Colorado vacation

Mount Evans, highest paved road in America at 14,130 ft.
hi all!

It's been a long time since i have posted anything. We are experiencing technical difficulties mixed with vacation! Which means--I haven't felt like posting anything, heck, last monday we were renting a car to go to Colorado Springs from Denver, Colorado and i couldn't even tell the lady at Enterprise what day it was! That means it's a great vacation!

We have been here at Jessie and Nick's house for two weeks and are leaving tomorrow. We are packed, well, pretty much, and are sad, but ready to be at our home again. Rachel's mother -in- law, Iris, is staying here tonight and we had my mom, kelly, and hillary (and ethan) here last week.

First week

During our first week in Colorado, our tour guide, jessie, took us on a whirlwind tour. So, here's the quick recap of our week.

Tuesday

Tuesday, we flew in and immediately went to Target at Denver West to get Rachel's presents for her surprise babyshower, which was the next night. We also got to have Olivia greet us at the airport with her own little signs, which read "Erin," "Brandon" and "Rebecca."

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we went to the highest road in the nation, the Mount Evans parkway. At the top of Mount Evans, you can see the entire front range and the Continental Divide. Brandon and I had visited this moutain before, known as one of Colorado's 14ers, but Rachel, Becca and Olivia had never been to the top so we paid our $10 and went up the mountain park with Jessie, Colin and Brad. I took a video and in the video you can hear me screaming from the sharp turns! Some of the road is crumbling and is not as well maintained as Pike's Peak, which we visited the next week. Anyways, the view at the top was great and Rachel did well, but she did sit down in the van for awhile because she was feeling lightheaded due to the altitude. Mount Evans is around 14,000-plus feet. I was running after the boys and had to sit down because I also got lightheaded.

After some pictures, we went to down the mountain and got ready for Rachel's suprise baby shower, but were suprised when Mom, Kelly, Ethan, and Hillary showed up!

Rachel's babyshower was so nice. We had Jessie's mother-in-law, Marguerite, Rachel, Charity, Jessica, Bailey, Kate and the sisters at the shower. Rachel got so many lovely shower gifts for baby Kaydence, who is going to be here Oct. 7. For the shower dinner, we had pizza, blue cheese salad with red onions, and a strawberry sherbert punch. We also had pan au chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries. What a full day!
